Adult ADHD Therapy for Women

Living with ADHD as an adult can feel exhausting—especially when you have spent years trying to keep up, stay organized, meet expectations, and hide how overwhelmed you feel. You may have an ADHD diagnosis, suspect ADHD could be part of your experience, or simply recognize yourself in the challenges of feeling scattered, forgetful, overwhelmed, or unable to follow through in the ways you want to.
For many women, ADHD is about much more than difficulty focusing. It can also show up as emotional intensity, anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, rejection sensitivity, or feeling deeply discouraged when everyday tasks seem harder than they “should.” You may get caught in a shame spiral after forgetting something, missing a deadline, struggling to start a task, or becoming overwhelmed.
You do not need a formal diagnosis to explore what is making focus, attention, organization, emotions, or everyday life feel so difficult.
A Compassionate Approach to ADHD
I have a special interest in supporting women with ADHD and attention-related challenges. As an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), I bring specialized ADHD training to our work while keeping therapy personal, collaborative, and grounded in your individual experience.
My approach to ADHD therapy is compassionate, practical, and tailored to you. Together, we’ll explore the patterns beneath procrastination, overwhelm, distraction, self-criticism, and emotional intensity rather than viewing them as personal failures.
Using parts work, self-compassion, and approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I help women better understand their ADHD and build strategies that work with their brains—not against them.
A Different Way to Understand ADHD
Many women with ADHD have learned to cope by pushing harder, masking their struggles, overcompensating, or criticizing themselves when they cannot keep up. The part of you that avoids a task, becomes overwhelmed, or insists that you need to do everything perfectly may be trying to protect you from judgment, failure, disappointment, or letting someone down.
In therapy, we can approach these patterns with curiosity and compassion—not shame. Rather than asking, “What is wrong with me?” we can begin asking, “What is making this hard, and what support would actually help?”
ADHD-Informed Therapy Can Help You…
-
Go from self-criticism and shame to greater self-understanding, compassion, and trust in yourself.
-
Go from overwhelm and avoidance to strategies that make everyday life feel more manageable.
-
Go from fighting your brain to understanding your patterns and working with your natural strengths.
-
Go from feeling scattered and pulled in many directions to greater clarity, focus, and intention.
-
Go from masking or overcompensating to recognizing your needs and honoring your own pace.
-
Go from struggling alone to feeling understood, supported, and more at home in yourself.
How Therapy Can Help
Our work may include practical support with organization, time and energy management, planning, emotional regulation, communication, relationships, and boundaries. We can identify strategies that fit how your brain works, explore the assumptions and fears that fuel procrastination, and find realistic ways to move forward with more confidence.
You do not have to force yourself to be someone else—or become perfectly organized, productive, or calm—to feel better. Therapy can help you understand yourself more fully, reduce the shame that keeps you stuck, and create a life that feels more supportive of who you are.
