Treating Depression

A therapist can offer an objective ear, validation, and unbiased support.

When dealing with depression everything feels more difficult and the activities we know will help us feel better often seem too hard to do! Lack of energy and negative thinking can persist, making it harder and harder to dig out of the hole of difficult emotions. Yet we know that sitting around waiting for the feelings to change will not get us anywhere. Reaching out for support can clear the way to begin feeling better and to start making headway. But it can be difficult to make connections when feeling blue. A therapist can offer an objective ear, validation, and unbiased support in these times. Feeling better takes time but you can get there more quickly by connecting with someone who understands and can provide new skills and expertise. Left untreated, serious depression can affect our relationships with family and friends and also affect work and even our physical health.
